According to CTV, 61 team members from the Halifax office have become part of the Game & Media Workers Guild of Canada, Local 30111, following certification by the Nova Scotia Labour Board on December 18, 2025.

The group has named their bargaining unit Ubisoft Workers of Canada, Halifax.

Local 30111 is also the representative body for Montreal employees at Bethesda Game Studios.

Jon Huffman, lead programmer at Ubisoft Halifax, called the move a "huge relief," noting that nearly 74% of the staff voted for unionization. The vote included personnel from various divisions such as programming, production, design, art, and R&D.

"Seventy-three point eight percent supported the unionization," Huffman stated. "It was a strong turnout with all eligible staff casting their vote, signaling a clear message from the members."

This represents the first union formed within Ubisoft's operations in North America. Their intention to unionize was first communicated in June 2025, according to a report. Although a vote took place at that time, it faced delays due to objections from Ubisoft until these were resolved and the votes were finally counted in December.

"Despite the extended period for certification, our commitment to collaborating with Ubisoft remains strong," Huffman remarked. "We cherish our work environment and our colleagues, and are committed for the long term."

In a statement on their website, the Ubisoft Workers of Canada emphasized their dedication to one another and their work.

"During times of industry instability, marked by studio shutdowns and layoffs, we affirm our commitment to each other and our profession," they stated.

"We believe our creativity thrives when we feel secure and supported. Our unionization is not meant as opposition to Ubisoft; rather, it's a partnership aimed at maintaining our studio’s standards of equity, excellence, and innovation."

They further explained, "Unionizing provides us, the employees, with a significant voice among the decision-makers, which will assist in shaping the future of Ubisoft Halifax and the broader industry. Together, we'll continue crafting timeless experiences for players while nurturing a modern, empathetic, and robust workplace for all involved in our work."
