The Swedish developer Moon Rover has ceased operations after being unable to obtain necessary funding

Moon Rover Games, a developer based in Stockholm, has halted its work as it struggles to obtain financial support for its project, Aldous.
The team announced their situation on LinkedIn and invited potential supporters to step forward as they explore options to move forward.
This Swedish game developer was established in 2023 by experienced professionals from major studios such as Ubisoft, DICE, and Paradox, as noted by an article on GamesIndustry.biz.
In a statement, the studio expressed regret over their funding challenges, stating, "It is with a heavy heart that we today announce that Moon Rover Games has been unable to secure funding to continue the development of our game Project Aldous and is therefore halting operations as we continue to look for solutions to continue our journey."
The founders clarified that their ambition was to create a modestly sized studio in Stockholm, designed to focus on unique narratives and engaging gameplay by fostering creativity and player-centered experiences.
Despite the setbacks, they expressed pride in the development made on Project Aldous and the team they assembled rooted in the company's core values, showing gratitude to all contributors.
The studio further expressed gratitude to partners, colleagues, friends, and family for their continued support and encouraged those who think they can assist to reach out.
Last year, Moon Rover received an investment of $3.5 million from NCSoft, marking the beginning of what was described as a “long-term partnership.” The co-CEO of the Korean company, Byungmoo Park, indicated that Project Aldous was expected to diversify NCSoft's offerings in both genre and spatial breadth.
