FIFA makes a comeback to gaming with an exclusive launch on Netflix

A new installment from the FIFA franchise is slated for release on Netflix in 2026, coinciding with the World Cup. This upcoming game, produced and distributed by Delphi Interactive, aligns with the company's primary licensing business as indicated by a previous Variety interview, although Delphi does not seem to have in-house developers based on their LinkedIn profile.
Delphi Interactive is also a participant in the creation of IO Interactive's James Bond game, 007: First Light. Efforts to obtain further details from them, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, are ongoing.
Gamers will be able to enjoy the FIFA title on mobile devices.
Alain Tascan, head of Netflix's gaming division, stated, “The FIFA World Cup is set to be the cultural highlight of 2026, allowing fans to engage deeply with the game from their homes.” He added, “We aim to capture the essence of football by providing a game accessible with just a single touch.”
Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive for the upcoming World Cup. He noted this collaboration highlights FIFA's dedication to advancements in football gaming, promising to connect billions of fans globally and redefining traditional simulation games. The game will be free for Netflix subscribers, marking a significant leap forward for FIFA.
After nearly three decades of exclusive collaboration, FIFA parted ways with Electronic Arts in 2022 when EA launched EA Sports FC independently, as FIFA sought to double the licensing fee beyond $1 billion, as reported here.
Separately, Netflix is pursuing an acquisition of Warner Bros, encompassing its gaming division, for $82.7 billion.
