Casey Hudson, the former general manager of BioWare, has established a new Canadian gaming company called Arcanaut Studios

Casey Hudson, previously the general manager at BioWare, is spearheading a new Canadian studio, Arcanaut Studios, in developing the game Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.
Hudson, known for directing the original Knights of the Old Republic, initiated Arcanaut Studios in July 2025. The team includes Chris Bain as CFO, Cordy Rierson as COO, and Ryan Hoyle as CTO.
During The Game Awards last week, Hudson shared, "In creating KOTOR, our aim was to offer the ultimate Star Wars adventure, an accumulation of all our fan-fueled dreams."
Reflecting on the journey since, he remarked, "Two and a half decades later, we are just as ambitious."
He described Fate of the Old Republic as a chance to blend cutting-edge technology with innovative game design in a fresh storyline, striving for a sense of agency and immersion for players reminiscent of KOTOR.
Hudson's tenure at Bioware spanned 16 years, having exited in 2014 and later returned in 2017. He left again in 2021 with Mark Darrah, former Dragon Age lead, to establish Humanoid Origin, which ceased operations last year, halting an unnamed sci-fi game in progress.
