French President Emmanuel Macron has extended his congratulations to Sandfall Interactive, the developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, for its remarkable achievements at The Game Awards. Macron's statement highlighted that the studio's historic accomplishments bring considerable pride to both Montpellier, where the firm is headquartered, and to France at large.

Through an Instagram message, Macron acknowledged the game’s prestigious win as Game of the Year in Los Angeles, marking a groundbreaking moment for French gaming. He celebrated the achievement as a source of national pride and commended the Sandfall Interactive team for paving the way for future generations.

During The Game Awards 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 received nominations in 12 different categories and walked away with nine awards, including accolades for Game of the Year, Best Independent, Best Indie Debut, and Best RPG.

Expressing gratitude on social media, Sandfall Interactive thanked its supporters for their role in the game’s success. "As we revel in this memorable night, we want to express our gratitude to you," the studio stated, acknowledging their player base for their passion and creativity that contributed to the game's journey.

This marks the second occasion that Macron has publicly praised Sandfall Interactive. Previously, in May, he applauded the studio for achieving one million sales within three days of release, recognizing it as one of the most highly acclaimed games of its time. Macron commended Sandfall Interactive for exemplifying the boldness and innovation of French talent.
