The popular open-world sandbox game, Wobbly Life, from Rubber Band Games, is set to make its debut on film and television. The independent developer from the UK has teamed up with Prime Universe Films as part of their strategy to expand into different media formats.

Prime Universe Films has a history of adapting video games for the screen, including two versions of the Hitman films with actors Timothy Olyphant and Rupert Friend. The CEO, Adrian Askarieh, is also involved as an executive producer for the Hitman TV series, which is in production at 20th Television.

According to Game Developer, the collaboration with IO Interactive was publicized in 2017.

Adrian Askarieh expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting, "Wobbly Life's rapid success indicates the robust nature of its universe, and I am eager to collaborate with RubberBandGames to transition it into film and television. This universe's distinct tone, identity, and characters make it ideal for storytelling in various formats."

The indie game Wobbly Life was released in 2020, originally developed by a single person. It has developed into an international sensation, selling over 2.8 million copies and engaging six million players on multiple platforms. By 2025, players had invested more than 60 million hours in gameplay.

Tom Dunn, the founder of Rubber Band Games, emphasized the crucial role of the game's community in its success by stating, "From the very beginning, the community has been the driving force behind Wobbly Life's success. The team and I have been astounded by this year's immense growth and are excited to see Wobbly Life transition into the realm of film and TV. We anticipate 2026 to bring even greater achievements."

In 2023, GamesIndustry.biz interviewed Dunn to discuss the game's rapid rise and how he initiated the development team following its solo creation.
