Three Fields Entertainment, established by the creators of Burnout, recently faced a challenging moment as they informed all employees about the potential of job losses. This announcement follows the release of their open-world driving game, Wreckreation.

CEO Fiona Sperry shared this difficult update through a LinkedIn post. Although Wreckreation launched in October, Sperry mentioned the studio is not expected to receive any considerable income from its sales soon. On the gaming platform Steam, Wreckreation's player base reached a high of 199 in October, according to SteamDB records.

Despite being published by THQ Nordic, Three Fields had to rely mainly on self-funding this year, including financing for post-launch enhancements, stated Sperry. "Lacking the passion or financial backing from our publisher to continue, we cannot maintain the studio as it is. Making such a decision has been incredibly painful," Sperry explained.

"This situation is truly devastating for us. It’s especially challenging since we had numerous features, updates, and creative initiatives planned to enhance the game, all of which are highlighted in the video shared today. We believed these additions would have enriched Wreckreation and expanded its player base."

Sperry expressed, "I hope by sharing this work publicly, it might catch the attention of someone who sees its potential and opportunities might still arise. Even if that doesn’t happen, we want this to demonstrate our vision and the strength, passion, and talent of our small team. I have faith in this game’s potential and in the remarkable abilities of those who created it."

Established in Hampshire in 2014 by Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward, Three Fields Entertainment previously included games like Dangerous Golf, Lethal Zone, and Danger Zone in its portfolio. Prior to this venture, Ward was the creative force behind most titles in the Burnout series, having co-founded Criterion alongside Sperry.
