Outright Games, a publisher based in the UK, has announced staff reductions. The company shared with GamesIndustry.biz that it is reducing its workforce by 27 positions across its teams in the UK and Spain. This move is described as a measure to better match current market realities.

The impacted areas include marketing, production, creative, quality assurance, and OG Labs.

Outright Games has gained attention for its children's games featuring popular franchises such as Barbie, Chicken Run, the NBA, and Paw Patrol (seen in the image).

A representative from the company stated, “Following careful assessment of various options, we have made the challenging decision to commence a redundancy process that will affect 27 roles at Outright Games across our UK and Spanish teams. These decisions were made with great consideration, and we are dedicated to supporting our colleagues during this transition.

This restructuring aims to ensure that Outright Games remains in line with market demands and is poised for the future. Our commitment to delivering superior family entertainment remains steadfast.”

This announcement comes just four months after employees at Aheartfulofgames, a developer owned by Outright Games responsible for the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, were informed of impending layoffs, affecting 28 individuals.

Furthermore, the news follows Outright Games becoming part of a new collective known as Roundtable Interactive Group, alongside UK-based Auroch Digital, US publisher GameMill Entertainment, and multiplayer technology firm Coherence. This initiative is led by Robin Flodin, who has held a directorship role at Outright Games since November 2024. The venture is supported by investment firm EMK Capital.

When discussing earlier layoffs this year, Aheartfulofgames attributed the redundancy to a leadership shift at Outright, which led to a focus on "low-cost, rapid-turnaround projects."

The layoffs add to the series of dismissals affecting the gaming sector in recent times. For instance, Avalanche Studios Group announced the closure of its Liverpool location, impacting 31 employees. Additionally, Redhill Games is undergoing restructuring that will affect numerous workers.

Furthermore, Crystal Dynamics, known for the Tomb Raider series, has recently dismissed 30 employees in its third set of layoffs this year, and Sharkmob has acknowledged potential job threats due to a challenging but essential restructuring plan.

This article has been updated to specify which departments within Outright Games were focused on during the staff reductions.
