Main Highlights of the Weekend (November 29-30)
Roskomnadzor reported that Roblox contains a large amount of "inappropriate" content, 9 million people played the global edition of Where Winds Meet, and Tormented Souls 2 sold 100,000 copies. Here are the main events in the gaming industry from the past weekend.
- For the past six years, Roskomnadzor has regularly demanded that Roblox remove various content banned in Russia, as representatives of the agency reported in an interview with journalists. According to them, the platform in general spreads a lot of material that could "negatively impact the spiritual and moral development of children." Roskomnadzor believes the blame partly lies with Roblox's moderation system, which fails to notice and remove everything, thus "creating conditions and prerequisites for unlawful actions." However, Roskomnadzor's statement did not mention any potential blocking of Roblox in Russia.
- The Chinese studio Everstone Studio announced that the global edition of their role-playing action game Where Winds Meet attracted 9 million players in two weeks. Soon, the game's audience may grow even larger. As the developers reported, on December 12, the western version of the title will be released on iOS and Android—although Where Winds Meet was released on smartphones in China back in January, it is currently only available on PC and PlayStation 5 abroad.
- The survival horror game Tormented Souls II also showed excellent initial results. Publisher PQube and studio Dual Effect boasted that the game sold 100,000 copies in just over a month since its release: it launched on October 23 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The developers are currently working on fresh content, which they will detail in the coming weeks.
