Some developers of the extraction shooter Exoborne will be laid off
The Sharkmob studio is preparing to conduct layoffs at its division in Malmö. It announced this in a statement to the GamesIndustry portal.
Sharkmob did not specify how many people will lose their jobs. It explained that it cannot share such information yet, as it is still negotiating with the candidates for layoffs and the union.
As the reason for the layoffs, Sharkmob cited the “challenging environment” in the gaming market.
It should be noted that two weeks ago Sharkmob announced the decision to shut down the servers of the unsuccessful Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt. Although the game stopped receiving new content back in 2023, gamers have still been able to spend time in it. It will finally close on April 28, 2026. Whether there is a connection between this and the layoffs is not known for sure.
Exactly a year ago, Sharkmob conducted mass layoffs in another of its divisions—in London. At that time, staff was reduced following the cancellation of a certain unannounced game. According to GamesIndustry, as a result, the office effectively ceased operations.
Currently, Sharkmob is working on the extraction shooter Exoborne. Its release date has not yet been announced, and it is unclear how the studio’s issues will impact the project.
