Revenge of the Savage Planet is not bringing money to its creators yet. Partly because of Game Pass
Alex Hutchinson, co-founder of the Raccoon Logic studio, is disappointed with the revenue from the action-adventure game Revenge of the Savage Planet. In an interview with FRVR, he stated that although the game attracted over a million people, from a financial standpoint, it did not perform well.

Hutchinson explained that Raccoon Logic banked on the game's appearance in Game Pass. The developers anticipated that many gamers would get to know Revenge of the Savage Planet through the subscription, leading them to purchase the Cosmic Hoarder DLC. Ultimately, the first half of this prediction came true, but the second half faced issues.
According to Hutchinson, Game Pass subscribers were not inclined to make any additional purchases.
“The sales conversion rate was simply terrible. This means that if you give something away for free, you are essentially saying it is worth nothing. [...] Therefore, the people who paid for the game also buy the DLC, while those who did not pay for it do not pay for anything,” the manager argues.
Hutchinson added that developing Revenge of the Savage Planet was costly. The game was funded by Tencent, so its earnings are currently directed to the Chinese giant. The studio itself will start receiving royalties from sales only after it has compensated Tencent's expenses.
Revenge of the Savage Planet was released on May 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
