Atomhawk closes its Canadian location
Since its inception in 2009, Atomhawk has been a prominent digital art and design studio involved in various gaming projects, including Madden 26. However, the studio recently announced the closure of its Canadian branch.
In an announcement shared on LinkedIn, the company's leadership expressed immense regret over the closure while assuring support for the impacted employees.
"Closing the studio impacts a small group of incredibly talented artists and friends," the statement noted. "For the past eight years, these individuals have produced outstanding work on some of our cherished games and led numerous research and development efforts. We are committed to supporting each one affected."
The message continued, expressing gratitude to the Canadian team: "Your passion and creativity have been invaluable. As we say, once a Hawk, always a Hawk."
Atomhawk plans to maintain operations in the UK, continuing its role as a creative partner in the gaming industry, building upon contributions from both current and former team members.
The UK-based firm Sumo Digital acquired Atomhawk in 2017 for an unspecified amount. Later, in 2021, Tencent purchased it during its acquisition of the Sumo Group, valued at $1.27 billion. Read more about the acquisition.
