In response to Iraq's decision to prohibit the use of Roblox due to worries over child safety, the company has issued a statement strongly disputing the Iraqi government's assertion that its service doesn't align with societal norms.

According to a report by Reuters, Iraq recently announced the ban, joining a list of nations including Algeria, China, Qatar, Oman, North Korea, Turkiye, and the UAE that have imposed similar restrictions on the gaming platform.

In reaction to these safety concerns, Roblox has deactivated certain features, like in-game chat, in countries where Arabic is spoken, arguing that accusations of misuse are incorrect.

Roblox's statement emphasized their commitment to safety and creating an environment that respects diverse cultures while facilitating creativity, play, and learning.

The company asserted that the Iraqi government's allegations stem from an outdated perception of their service and don't take into account ongoing efforts to enhance user safety in collaboration with Middle Eastern authorities.

Earlier this year, they had already opted to suspend specific communication options, such as in-game chat, across Arabic-speaking regions, Iraq included. The suggestion that the platform is being misused is, therefore, unfounded, according to Roblox.
