A former general manager of Ridgeline Games has expressed "disappointment" with Electronic Arts for excluding certain staff members from the Battlefield 6 credits, citing their "significant contributions" to the project.
Marcus Lehto, who co-created Halo and previously led Ridgeline Games, expressed dissatisfaction regarding the absence of proper credits for Ridgeline Games' staff in Battlefield 6's latest release.
Ridgeline was involved in crafting the game's solo campaign until its closure by the parent company, EA, in 2024. According to Lehto, despite significant contributions, many of the dismissed staff were only acknowledged in the "Special Thanks" section, or not credited at all, himself included.
On LinkedIn, Lehto stated his disappointment that many former team members at Ridgeline Games weren't appropriately recognized.
The developers dedicated one to two and a half years to laying the groundwork for the game before Lehto's voluntary departure and the subsequent studio shutdown.
Lehto emphasized the importance of acknowledging the team, highlighting their work and contributions as he wished they would have been credited officially.
He pointed out that game creation is a collaborative process where every team member's input should be duly acknowledged.
In a subsequent comment, Lehto elaborated on Ridgeline's role in creating a new narrative, developing the setting, factions, and iconic locales for campaign missions, collaborating closely with other Battlefield teams. They took pride in the elements that were retained in the game.
He also acknowledged the decision to abandon the high-level story elements developed by Ridgeline after it closed, understanding why those decisions might have been made.
