Ubisoft reveals a "restructuring proposal" concerning RedLynx, potentially putting 60 positions in jeopardy
Ubisoft has put forward a restructuring plan for its RedLynx studio, located in Finland.
This proposal is part of Ubisoft's worldwide strategy to streamline operations, cut costs, and enhance efficiency across its global studio teams.
Up to 60 jobs might be affected under this proposal, focusing mainly on production and administrative roles.
However, the technology division working on the Snowdrop game engine will remain untouched.
RedLynx, recognized for the Trials racing series, had its latest project, the mobile game Gwen's Gateway, cancelled in December 2024.
Prior to finalizing the restructuring, RedLynx intends to conduct collective negotiations with employees.
These discussions are set for October 20, 2025, with a conclusion anticipated by the end of November.
The restructuring is designed to transition RedLynx from a studio working across multiple platforms to one focusing on smaller screens.
According to Ubisoft, this change aims to better utilize RedLynx’s specialized skills, starting with two yet-to-be-announced mobile projects spearheaded by the studio.
"This proposal involves tough decisions, made after thorough deliberation," stated Ubisoft RedLynx's managing director, Celine Pasula.
"We acknowledge the impact this announcement could have on our staff and teams," Pasula added.
Pasula expressed confidence that the proposed transformation would enable RedLynx to significantly contribute to Ubisoft's future initiatives – enhancing technological advancements on mobile platforms and bolstering Ubisoft's small-screen audience reach.
Ubisoft acquired RedLynx in 2011, with the financial details undisclosed. More information on the acquisition can be found here.
