The former head of the Assassin's Creed franchise stated that Ubisoft forced him to leave

Recently, it was announced that Marc-Alexis Coté, the executive producer of Assassin’s Creed, has left Ubisoft after 20 years with the company. In a LinkedIn post, he stated that his departure was not voluntary.

Coté confirmed media reports that shortly before his dismissal, he was offered a transfer to Vantage Studios, a newly established Ubisoft subsidiary. However, since the new position was inferior in authority and scope compared to his previous role, he declined. Subsequently, Ubisoft asked him to leave.

“Many of you were surprised that I decided to leave Assassin’s Creed after so many years, especially given my unwavering passion for the series. The truth is simple: I did not make this choice. Ubisoft decided to pass the leadership of the Assassin’s Creed franchise to someone more fitting for the company’s new organizational structure,” Coté wrote.

Despite everything, Coté emphasized that he holds no grudge against Ubisoft. He did not disclose what he plans to do next.
