The studio behind the rhythm shooter Metal: Hellsinger is set to close
The founder of The Outsiders, David Goldfarb, announced that the studio will soon cease to exist. It has fallen victim to the restructuring of its parent company, Funcom.

Goldfarb admitted that he hasn't had enough time to fully come to terms with what has happened. He recalled that a few years ago, The Outsiders was already on the brink of closure. The studio could have disappeared after having to cancel its debut game, Darkborn, in 2020, but at that time circumstances ultimately worked in its favor. Just a year later, The Outsiders became part of Funcom, under whose wing it was able to peacefully develop Metal: Hellsinger. Goldfarb added that he was still hoping for the best, but unsuccessfully.
In total, The Outsiders operated for ten years. It was founded in 2015 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
The restructuring of Funcom became known last week. At that time, the company announced plans to conduct a wave of layoffs, but the decision to close The Outsiders had not been mentioned until now.
