In March, Ubisoft unveiled its plan to establish a subsidiary supported by Tencent, focusing on its key series: Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. Today marks the beginning of this new entity's operation, now officially named Vantage Studios.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the division, which was initially called Nova, selected its new name, Vantage Studios, through a vote by its staff.

This newly named division comprises Ubisoft's offices located in cities including Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, bringing together a workforce of 2,300 employees.

This move aligns with Ubisoft's earlier plans to transition into "creative houses," aiming to decentralize its operations. This approach intends to allow these units greater autonomy over strategic and creative decisions.

Vantage Studios, as the inaugural creative house, will oversee the direction of Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six while still being part of Ubisoft's broader organizational structure.

The new entity has received a 25% investment from Tencent, which is part of a larger €1.16 billion ($1.25 billion) investment from the Chinese conglomerate. Once finalized, reports from GamesIndustry.biz suggest that Ubisoft's debt level will be significantly reduced.

The advisory role of Tencent in Vantage Studios is set, though the ultimate authority on decisions will belong to the subsidiary's co-CEOs, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot.
