Tara Saunders from Larian Studios has been reaffirmed in her role as the chair of the BAFTA Games committee
The arts charity BAFTA has announced the continuation of Tara Saunders, head of Larian Games studio, as the chair of the BAFTA Games committee. Des Gayle, founder of Altered Gene, will also remain as deputy chair, according to a press release distributed on September 24, 2025, detailing the composition of its film, games, and television committees.
The role of the committee includes supporting BAFTA in achieving its strategic missions and is instrumental in directing the BAFTA Game Awards. They also engage in consulting on the awards' rulebook.
In an August interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Emma Baehr, BAFTA's executive director of awards and content, characterized the committee as a "sounding board," ensuring guidelines align with industry trends.
Other committee members include Adele Cutting, former senior audio director at EA and head of Soundcuts, Alyx Jones, founder of Silver Script Games, Anna Mansi from BFI, Katherine Bidwell, co-founder of State of Play Games, and Charu Desodt, studio director at Interior/Night.
Sara Putt, chair of BAFTA, expressed gratitude toward these individuals for their volunteer efforts, emphasizing that the committees are vital for BAFTA’s mission to honor the screen industries and the professionals within them.
In related news, Luke Hebblethwaite, previously head of games at BAFTA, disclosed via LinkedIn his departure from the organization after changes led to his role being discontinued.
