The Scottish Game Developers Association (SGDA) is now accepting applications for Scotland's inaugural games accelerator initiative.

Launched on September 24, 2025, this Games Accelerator program, supported by the Scottish government, will host nine face-to-face workshops from November 2025 to March 2026.

Workshops will address topics such as creating products, securing finances, and presenting to publishers, with guidance from seasoned professionals in the gaming industry. Participants will also benefit from mentorship opportunities with skilled developers.

During the program, teams will craft "small game prototypes" to apply lessons learned through hands-on experience.

The effort will culminate in participants showcasing their game and business strategies at Games Talk Live, with events in Edinburgh, Dundee, and Glasgow scheduled from March 24 to March 26, 2026.

"This course offers tangible business skills improvement for Scotland's emerging game sector," commented Cian Roche, SGDA's general manager.

"Participants will receive expert insights, learn funding pathways, and will present to diverse industry professionals, instilling confidence to formulate and execute a robust plan for thriving in the games business."

Applications are due by 5pm BST on October 15, 2025, and the program welcomes "early-stage and aspiring leaders in gaming" based in Scotland.

With a limited number of spots, only two applicants per studio or team can participate. The program is free, but assistance for necessary in-person sessions is available. Interested parties can apply here.

Additionally, UKIE recently introduced Interactive Entertainment Scotland (IES), aimed at promoting the rapid growth of Scotland's gaming industry.
