Code Coven announces its inaugural Aurora Accelerator and Agency cohort
The Aurora Accelerator and Agency initiative by Code Coven has unveiled its initial group of three studios set to be part of the program.
The chosen developers include Fast Loris Studios from Yorkshire, Glowfrog Games led by women, and the independent developer, Hologram Ghost.
Each studio is launching a specific game within the accelerator. Fast Loris Studios is introducing "Walkies: Tails of the Sanctuary," a cozy adventure, Glowfrog Games is unveiling its scrapbooking project "Pieced Together," and Hologram Ghost is creating a cyberpunk adventure dramedy.
According to Helen Smailes, co-founder of Fast Loris Studios, joining Aurora is thrilling as it offers meaningful connections with a community attuned to the challenges faced by underrepresented individuals in the gaming industry.
"Aurora's mentorship and support enhance our business acumen, assist in sustainable studio growth, and contribute to building a more inclusive industry," Smailes noted.
Hologram Ghost founder Claudie Cote-Bergeron expressed enthusiasm about expanding professional networks and advancing leadership and business management skills, while also leveraging funding and support opportunities.
Interested developers can apply for the next Aurora cohort, which kicks off in late 2025. Eligibility requires being UK-based and having a leadership team with at least 50% representation of marginalized genders.
Earlier this year, GamesIndustry.biz talked with Code Coven's CEO Tara Mustapha about their vision for supporting underrepresented developers in establishing sustainable studios.
Last October, Code Coven secured £510,000 from the BFI National Lottery Innovation Challenge to finance its Aurora and Agency initiative.
