The developer of Storm Lancers, known as ProbablyMonsters, has recently dismissed an employee due to remarks made about the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. This decision was detailed in a post on X on September 22, 2025, where the company stated the comments were "offensive" and breached their social media guidelines.

According to ProbablyMonsters, "Respect is one of our core values. The remarks shared by a former employee regarding Charlie Kirk's death were offensive, violating our social media policy. We do not condone such behavior, leading to the termination of this individual."

This follows a pattern where other gaming companies have taken similar actions. Sucker Punch Productions also dismissed a senior artist from Ghost of Yotei after a joke about the assassination, and Void Interactive cut ties with Ready or Not's community manager following comments made about Kirk on the game's Discord.

Moreover, Microsoft has issued a statement on X, discussing awareness of some employees' sentiments regarding recent incidents. The company is reportedly reviewing each situation individually. This statement came after Elon Musk tagged Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, questioning actions of Activision Blizzard employees mentioned in a discussion for speaking against Charlie Kirk.

Other game industry giants, including Square Enix, Warhammer/Games Workshop, and Bethesda, are also experiencing social media criticism related to employees' statements about the incident.

GamesIndustry.biz reached out to ProbablyMonsters for additional input, but a studio spokesperson indicated that they had nothing further to add beyond their initial statement.
