The developer of Storm Lancers, ProbablyMonsters, has recently terminated an employee after remarks were made concerning the assassination of right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk.
On September 22, 2025, ProbablyMonsters shared in an announcement on X that the firing was due to comments deemed "offensive" related to Kirk's death.
The studio asserted, "Respect is a fundamental value for us. Comments about Charlie Kirk's passing by a now-former employee breached our social media standards."
"We cannot allow such behavior, leading to the individual's departure from the company," they added.
This incident joins a sequence of similar actions taken by game studios concerning remarks about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
Sony's Sucker Punch Productions discharged a leading artist from Ghost of Yotei following a joke related to the event, while Void Interactive has severed ties with the community manager of Ready or Not after comments were made in the game's official Discord channel.
Meanwhile, Microsoft noted its awareness of certain employee sentiments about the recent events and mentioned it is "in the process of reviewing each situation individually."
The company issued this statement on X after Elon Musk directed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's attention to a post responding to a narrative that listed Activision Blizzard employees allegedly critical of Charlie Kirk, questioning the situation.
Other gaming firms, including Square Enix, Warhammer/Games Workshop, and Bethesda, are also encountering backlash on social media from users sparked by staff member remarks.
When asked for further comments, a ProbablyMonsters representative disclosed to GamesIndustry.biz that there are "no additional remarks beyond what was previously communicated."
