Since its debut on September 12, Borderlands 4 has attracted more than 2.5 million participants, generating revenues exceeding $150 million.

Information revealed by Alinea Analytics to GamesIndustry.biz indicates that the game has sold upwards of 1.3 million copies via Steam, producing over $80 million, and has reached over one million sales on console platforms.

Following its release, Borderlands 4 broke the barrier of 300,000 concurrent users on Steam.

With regard to geographical player distribution on Steam, the majority originate from the United States, with subsequent high numbers from China, Germany, the UK, and Canada.

For the PlayStation platform, over 50% of the user base is located in the US, with contributions between 5% and 8% from the UK, Germany, France, and Canada.

The analytics firm also shed light on the history of players with the franchise. On Steam, Borderlands 2 was played by 59% of players, whereas 51% had experience with Borderlands 3, and 22% had played Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

In contrast, PlayStation players, influenced by PS Plus offerings, saw 81% playing Borderlands 3, with 64% engaging with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and half have tried Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

According to Alinea Analytics, while "initial performance issues" captured media attention, there is an expectation that such challenges will diminish as optimizations are introduced.

Last week, in several X posts, CEO Randy Pitchford inferred that users’ PC configurations were responsible for the observed performance challenges.
