Unveiled on September 17, 2025, IES is set to be the leading advocate for Scottish game developers, engaging with the Scottish government and other significant stakeholders to promote supportive policies for the gaming industry's expansion in the region.

IES members will gain from tailored expertise for Scotland, along with access to the comprehensive services and advocacy offered by UKIE.

Nick Poole, CEO of UKIE, stated, "Scotland has consistently been integral to the UK’s gaming triumphs."

"Introducing Interactive Entertainment Scotland acknowledges the sector's evolution and significance within Scotland. It will deliver targeted and regional representation while preserving the unity that being part of the larger UK games community provides."

IES aims to bolster business growth, attract investment, and foster talent development through collaborations with academic institutions.

Scotland's business and employment minister, Richard Lochhead, remarked, "Establishing a specialized trade body to champion Scotland's esteemed gaming industry comes at a crucial time."

"As the origin of globally influential games like Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto, and home to businesses contributing to major titles including Minecraft, Scotland's gaming industry has significantly expanded.

"The number of gaming companies in Scotland has climbed from 15 in 2010 to 130 today, with sector employment figures soaring from 1,045 in 2015 to 2,125 by 2023.

"I am eager to collaborate with Interactive Entertainment Scotland to build on these outstanding milestones."
