Microsoft Store has waived the developer registration fee, but not for everyone
Microsoft Corporation announced changes in the Microsoft Store. The store will no longer charge a registration fee from individual developers.
For reference, Microsoft considers indie developers as those who create apps not for profit, but as a hobby or for educational purposes. Previously, the corporation charged them a one-time fee of 19 dollars.
All other developers will continue to pay a registration fee for the Microsoft Store. For them, the fee is 99 dollars. The standard commission for applications remains in place — 12% for games and 15% for other products.
Microsoft also boasted that the number of monthly active users of the Microsoft Store has exceeded 250 million.
