The UK games industry organization, UKIE, has collaborated with Tencent, the Department for Business and Trade, and Player One Consulting to continue their Video Games Growth Programme for a second year. This initiative is aimed at aiding UK studios in scaling their creative and business potential.

On September 2, 2025, a press release confirmed the program’s continuance following its successful debut in 2024.

The inaugural year saw 27 studios graduate, and the current year introduces two distinct paths for participants.

One path, the accelerator track, is designed for new studios ready to embark on significant expansion, while the scale-up track targets established firms aiming for further expansion.

Mark Maslowicz, Tencent's vice president of partnerships and investments, expressed enthusiasm for supporting the program, noting the UK’s position as Europe’s leading video game market, valued at over £7 billion and drawing in more than half its population.

Maslowicz emphasized the chance to influence the industry's future by supporting burgeoning studios and reinforcing the UK's status as a global leader in game development.

UKIE stated that the programme will provide participating studios with sessions led by experts, one-on-one mentorship, and investor access.

The curriculum also addresses vital aspects for sustained growth, such as funding strategies, management of teams and operations, business frameworks, and entering international markets.

Nick Poole, CEO of UKIE, conveyed their excitement about the second year of the program, which empowers new start-ups and expanding businesses.

Poole highlighted that with focused mentorship and expert guidance, the program aids participants in transforming their innovative ideas and ambitions into necessary skills, strategies, and confidence for growth and success in the industry.

Applications for the current year’s Video Games Growth Programme open on September 15, 2025, and will remain open until October 20, 2025. More information is available here.
