Amazon MGM Studios has approved a live-action series adaptation of the popular game Life Is Strange for streaming on Prime Video.

Charlie Covell, known for her work on Channel 4's The End of the F***ing World and Netflix's Kaos, will pen the script. Covell will also act as showrunner and executive producer.

Story Kitchen's Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson are among the executive producers. The production team includes LuckyChap, Square Enix, Amazon MGM Studios, and Story Kitchen.

"Adapting Life Is Strange is a tremendous privilege," Covell expressed, noting her deep admiration for the game. "Collaborating with the talented teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap is an exciting opportunity to bring Max and Chloe's narrative to both fans and new audiences."

Nick Pepper, head of US SVOD TV and development at Amazon MGM Studios, remarked on the excitement surrounding the project: "Our global audience on Prime Video will delve into the vivid world of Life Is Strange. Under Charlie Covell's guidance, the adaptation promises to be a compelling rendition of the beloved game."

Initially, Legendary Television was associated with developing a Life Is Strange TV series, as reported by Variety.

Jon Brooke and Lee Singleton from Square Enix shared their enthusiasm: "Fans have long requested a Life Is Strange televised adaptation, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Amazon MGM Studios to achieve this vision."

Life Is Strange, crafted by Don't Nod Entertainment and launched by Square Enix, premiered in 2015. Deck Nine introduced the prequel, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, in 2017.

Don't Nod expanded the series with Life Is Strange 2 and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit between 2018 and 2019 before Square Enix acquired the franchise rights. Deck Nine continued the journey with Life Is Strange: True Colours in 2021 and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure in 2024.
