Nintendo has rebranded its transmedia division, changing the name from Warpstar to Nintendo Stars
Nintendo has renamed its transmedia arm from Warpstar Inc. to Nintendo Stars. This subsidiary, which was initially formed in April, is responsible for overseeing the company’s transmedia activities including films and television series. According to a memo on Nintendo Japan's website, the entity’s focus will broaden to include live events and merchandising through project development and licensing opportunities.
The memo highlights the intention of Nintendo Stars Inc. to promote Nintendo intellectual properties globally by offering innovative experiences through films and other media. The aim is to enhance global familiarity with Nintendo brands, says the statement (source: GameDeveloper).
Additionally, the statement touches on ongoing efforts with the Kirby series, leveraging its expertise to widen the audience for Nintendo's brands. The division plans to collaborate internationally to cultivate stronger bonds with its customers.
Attention was also drawn to upcoming cinematic projects, with a new animated Super Mario Bros. film set for April 3, 2026, and a live-action movie based on The Legend of Zelda expected to premiere on May 7, 2027.
