NetEase has decided to stop supporting T-Minus Zero Entertainment. The studio may now shut down

In the summer of 2023, a group of former developers from Fallout 76, Doom, and Star Wars: The Old Republic launched a new studio under the wing of NetEase, called T-Minus Zero Entertainment. Two years later, they faced difficulties.

The head of the studio, Rich Vogel, wrote on LinkedIn that the partnership between T-Minus Zero Entertainment and NetEase has come to an end. He did not delve into details, only noting that his team was unable to secure the necessary further funding due to market conditions.

Nevertheless, Vogel expressed gratitude to NetEase for all the prior support that allowed T-Minus Zero Entertainment to create a playable demo of its debut project — a multiplayer sci-fi action game.

Vogel did not explicitly state what the future holds for his studio. Online speculations suggest that it might suspend operations while seeking a new investor or possibly cease to exist altogether. This last possibility is hinted at by the top executive's comments about T-Minus Zero Entertainment employees "exploring new opportunities," and his readiness to share their contacts. In any case, the team will no longer be part of NetEase.
