Safe in Our World has introduced the Mental Health Star Accreditation to acknowledge companies that succeed in meeting its mental health standards. Designed specifically for the games industry, this unique accreditation launched on August 19, 2025, and was crafted by experts combining game development and mental health insights.

The charity emphasized the scalability and adaptability of the accreditation in a press release, stating it was "made to fit the needs of the wide variety of companies in gaming."

The accreditation process initiates with a comprehensive audit of the company's mental health strategies and culture. Afterward, Safe in Our World supplies a detailed report with strengths and areas for enhancement.

Should companies qualify, they are awarded one of three endorsement levels: Dedicated, Accomplished, or Outstanding. This recognition remains valid for three years, with annual evaluations, support, and a media kit for showcasing the endorsement online.

Available worldwide, the certification's cost starts at £1,000 ($1352) for the three years, scaling with company size.

Even if a company does not meet the criteria initially, Safe in Our World provides an in-depth report and resources for improvement, allowing companies to reapply at their discretion.

The entire assessment process is kept "completely confidential," as assured by Safe in Our World to GamesIndustry.biz, although accredited organizations can publicly share their achievements.

"Undergoing a formal review might feel like a close examination," remarked Sky-Tunley Stainton, the partnerships and training Manager at Safe in Our World, "but this is a confidential and judgment-free initiative. It's an excellent way to exhibit your dedication to fostering a healthy and secure work environment."
