Blackbird Interactive has taken complete ownership of the Hardspace: Shipbreaker intellectual property

Blackbird Interactive has successfully purchased all intellectual property rights for Hardspace: Shipbreaker from Focus Entertainment.
The sci-fi simulation game, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, was initially launched in 2022, created by Blackbird Interactive and initially published by Focus Entertainment, who held partial rights to the IP.
With the recent acquisition of full rights, Blackbird Interactive now exclusively owns the Hardspace: Shipbreaker IP.
The studio mentioned the ongoing development of several new Hardspace projects, promising features such as evocative worldbuilding, engaging physics-driven gameplay, and innovative design.
To support these future endeavors, Blackbird Interactive has initiated the LYNX Pioneer Program. This initiative aims to involve the community in shaping upcoming Hardspace and other original projects by offering exclusive playtests and behind-the-scenes access.
Rory McGuire, president and CCO at Blackbird Interactive, stated, “It is rare to have an IP that resonates so deeply with millions of players.” He added their gratitude toward Focus Entertainment for their significant contribution to Shipbreaker's success.
Recently, Lyrical Games, a new branch of Lyrical Media, announced its entry into the publishing sector, revealing plans to distribute Blackbird Interactive's next game.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Blake Rochkind, who leads Lyrical Games, indicated that their inaugural title will be unveiled at this year's Gamescom.
There is no confirmation yet on whether Blackbird Interactive's incoming game will continue the storyline within the Hardspace: Shipbreaker universe.
Clarifications have been made to note that it is Lyrical Games’ debut game that will be announced at Gamescom, not Blackbird Interactive's, and to correct "Hardship" to "Hardspace" where previously misnamed.
