According to a recent report, a significant number of online gamers in the UK and the U.S. — 80% to be exact — have encountered cheating during their gaming sessions.

This study conducted by PlaySafe ID, which included responses from over 2000 gamers in both nations, indicated that 42% of participants have abandoned a game due to deceptive behavior. Additionally, 55% have curtailed or entirely ceased spending on games as a result of cheating issues.

"The consequences for players and, by extension, for gaming companies are profound," the report states, highlighting the "significant impact on studio revenues."

Moreover, findings showed that 83% of gamers would be more inclined to engage with games advertised as "cheater-free," with 73% open to confirming their identity to maintain such an environment.

Furthermore, 79% of those who took part believe that cheaters should face punishment across "multiple games."

"Cheating in video games is a major problem that erodes player confidence and negatively affects developer income," expressed Andrew Wailes, founder and CEO of PlaySafe ID.

"Examining the data, it’s evident that players not only recognize the issue but are eager to help resolve it. It’s now up to game studios and developers to implement strong, transparent measures to combat cheating," Wailes added.
