Half-Year Report from Remedy: Revenues Rise Despite Weak Launch of FBC: Firebreak
The cooperative shooter FBC: Firebreak — Remedy Entertainment’s publishing debut — disappointed both professional critics and gamers. In its report for the first half of 2025, the Finnish company acknowledged its unsuccessful launch. However, it noted that the lukewarm reception of the title did not hinder revenue growth.
FBC: Firebreak
- Remedy reported earnings of €30.3 million for the half-year. Compared to January-June 2024, its revenue jumped by 43.4%.
- €12.16 million of this amount came from royalties on Remedy's game sales, a 343% increase.
- €18.14 million consisted of development commissions, which is 1.36% less than the previous year. Mostly, this is revenue from work on Control 2 (50% funded by Annapurna Picture) and the remake of the Max Payne duology (funded by Rockstar Games).
- By the end of the half-year, Remedy achieved an operating profit of €0.8 million. Last year, it reported losses of €5.3 million.
- Remedy reminded that by the end of June, more than a million people had played FBC: Firebreak across all platforms. Nevertheless, from a commercial standpoint, the game underperformed. A significant portion of the revenue was not from direct shooter sales but from deals with Microsoft and Sony, which allowed placing FBC: Firebreak in subscriptions. Despite everything, Remedy remains optimistic and believes that updates will help remedy the situation.
- Control and games from the Alan Wake series continued to sell steadily.
- As of June 30, Remedy employed 385 people, a 6.6% increase from the previous year.
