Digital Foundry becomes an independent company

Digital Foundry has declared its departure from IGN Entertainment, opting for an independent path.
In a recent podcast, Richard Leadbetter, the publication's editor and founder, shared that he and Rupert Loman-West, the founder of Eurogamer, acquired about half of the company’s shares after IGN made an offer.
"Digital Foundry has severed its ties with IGN and we've purchased their stake in the business," Leadbetter mentioned. "This allows all decisions at Digital Foundry to be made internally."
As an independent entity, it will now rely on its Patreon program for funding.
IGN Entertainment took over Gamer Network's digital brand portfolio in May 2024, which included Digital Foundry.
Yael Prough, president of IGN Entertainment, stated, "Digital Foundry has been an outstanding brand, and we are extremely proud of their achievements, especially during their collaboration with IGN Entertainment."
"Richard Leadbetter and his team have created something exceptional, and we are excited to see them embrace their independent origins once more. We wish them great success and look forward to their continued growth."
IGN Entertainment owns GamesIndustry.biz.
