RedOctane Games, a newly established studio, is committed to "advancing the rhythm game genre"

RedOctane Games, a new studio entirely focused on rhythm games, has been officially introduced to the public, with plans to unveil its inaugural game later this year.
The company, created by developers with extensive experience from iconic rhythm games such as Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, aims to blend traditional elements with future innovations in the genre. The team comprises both industry veterans and fresh talent.
The studio is led by Simon Ebejer, who previously held the positions of studio head at Vicarious Visions and VP of Operations at Blizzard Entertainment. Ebejer's background includes serving as production director for several Guitar Hero titles at Neversoft Entertainment, including Warriors of Rock and World Tour.
Additionally, Charles and Kai Huang, the original inventors of Guitar Hero, are joining the advisory board at RedOctane Games. Their expertise is set to guide the studio's strategic trajectory.
The maiden game from RedOctane Games, which has been in early development stages for several months, is scheduled for announcement later this year. Central to the studio's development philosophy is community involvement, ensuring that players have a meaningful role from the outset.
"Rhythm games transcend simple gameplay; they embody the perfect synergy of feeling, rhythm, and communal interaction with music," explained Ebejer. "Our mission at RedOctane Games is to honor a genre that we cherish and to evolve it in remarkable ways."
Recently, there was news about the establishment of Day Off Interactive, a studio in Ireland dedicated to strategy and simulation gaming, further highlighting the growing trend of niche-focused game studios.
