Take-Two Interactive is reportedly making substantial changes to parts of the next BioShock installment and altering its leadership following an unsuccessful internal assessment by 2K Games. According to a report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg on August 1, insiders have indicated that the game's storyline was criticized, prompting a planned overhaul.

The forthcoming title, developed by Cloud Chamber, a 2K Games studio, has faced leadership changes after displeasure was expressed by senior management over its progress. The studio, managed by Firaxis veteran Kelley Gilmore since 2019, now sees creative director Hogarth de la Plante transitioning to a different role within the company.

In response to these developments, a representative from 2K Games assured that the organization is focused on creating a BioShock entry that meets fan expectations. Furthermore, Bloomberg's report mentions that employees have been apprised of the need for increased efficiency, sparking concerns about potential layoffs.

Additionally, it was revealed that a remake of the original BioShock was under development but was discontinued earlier this year. In their official communication, 2K Games emphasized their dedication to securing a promising future for the BioShock series, asserting, “We have a good game now, but are committed to crafting an exceptional one, working closely with studio leaders to achieve this.”
