An article published by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on August 1, reveals that insiders say the latest BioShock project is undergoing revisions after not meeting the approval of 2K Games' executives. The game's storyline, specifically, has been earmarked for significant development.

Announced in 2019, this new part of the BioShock saga is under development by Cloud Chamber, a subsidiary of 2K Games, with Kelley Gilmore at the helm. It marks the first new installment since 2013's BioShock Infinite.

However, Schreier's coverage indicates dissatisfaction from top executives, leading to Gilmore's removal. Similarly, Hogarth de la Plante has transitioned to a role in publishing.

A 2K Games representative confirmed these shifts, asserting their dedication to producing a BioShock experience that meets fans' high expectations.

Additionally, Bloomberg's informants suggest that employees were briefed about the necessity of improving the studio's agility and efficiency, raising concerns about potential layoffs. There were also claims of a halted project to remake the original BioShock earlier this year.

2K Games has assured that they are striving to establish a favourable future for the BioShock series, expressing: “We currently have a promising game, but our aim is to deliver an outstanding one. We are collaborating closely with studio leadership to map out this course.”
