Prices for Switch models have risen by as much as 15% after Nintendo increased costs in the United States
Recently, Nintendo increased the prices of various Switch consoles and accessories in the United States, effective August 3. This change was announced on August 1 through a statement, citing "market conditions" as the reason for the adjustment.
The exact details revealed that consumers will now face price hikes up to 15% for Switch consoles and up to 33% for certain Amiibo figures.
New Price Details
The price adjustments for selected Nintendo Switch products in the US are as follows:
Switch Consoles:- Nintendo Switch: Increased from $299.99 to $339.99, a 13.3% hike.
- Switch OLED: Now $399.99 from the previous $349.99, reflecting a 14.3% increase.
- Switch Lite: Previously priced at $199.99, now $229.99, marking a 15% rise.
- Nintendo Alarmo: Increase from $99.99 to $109.99, or 10% more.
- JoyCons: Previously $79.99, now $89.99, an increase of 12.5%.
- Standard Amiibo, like Piranha Plant: Raised from $15.99 to $19.99, up 25%.
- Premium Amiibo, such as TOTK Amiibos: New price $29.99, previously $19.99.
- Newest Amiibos, like Street Fighter 6: Now $39.99, up from $29.99, a 33% increase.
This follows a financial report indicating Nintendo's revenues more than doubled for the quarter ending June 30. The price increases seem linked to "market conditions" and a response to US tariffs on foreign goods announced by former President Donald Trump on April 2, 2025.
Nintendo had moved production of Switch products from China to Vietnam amid US-China tensions, but faced additional tariffs when Vietnam was threatened with a 46% duty, later finalized at 20% with a special surcharge for certain goods.
Despite the lower tariff in July, import costs for Nintendo to the US have surged, likely prompting the price changes. Currently, Nintendo has not planned adjustments for the upcoming Switch 2 or NSO memberships but warned that future changes might be needed.
