Recently, Nintendo raised the prices for various Switch models and accessories in the United States. This adjustment, made in response to market dynamics, was announced in an update on August 1 and took effect on August 3.
While specifics weren't initially disclosed, it has been revealed that price hikes reach up to 15% for Switch consoles and up to 33% for certain Amiibo figures.

The timing follows the release of Nintendo's financial report, which showed that the company's revenue more than doubled in the quarter ending June 30. The reasons for the price increase were attributed to "market conditions" in the US.
Nintendo's mention of market conditions could be related to tariffs on imported goods, introduced by President Donald Trump on April 2, 2025. These tariffs impacted the company as it prepared for the launch of its Switch 2 console in June.
Historically, Nintendo moved production facilities from China to Vietnam between 2019 and 2020 due to US-China tensions. However, with the threat of a 46% tariff on Vietnam, Nintendo faced challenges that led to delaying Switch 2 pre-orders in the US.
The high tariff on Vietnamese products was decreased to 20% in July with an additional 40% surcharge for transshipped goods. Despite this revision, increased costs for importing affected Nintendo's pricing strategy.
While there's no current plan to adjust the Switch 2 or NSO membership prices, Nintendo has advised that future price modifications might be necessary. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Nintendo for further remarks.
