6 million Nintendo Switch 2 units sold and a 132% revenue increase — Nintendo report

Nintendo reported results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, which ended for them on June 30, 2025. The Japanese company boasted that the Nintendo Switch 2 significantly boosted their revenues.

  • Nintendo's net sales for the quarter reached 572.3 billion yen ($3.8 billion), up by 132.1% compared to the previous year.
  • The company earned 40.5% of this amount in North and South America. The second-largest revenue-generating region was Europe, with a 23.5% share. Japan contributed another 20.5%.
  • Net profit also increased, albeit less dramatically—by 18.6% to 96 billion yen ($637 million).
  • The main event of the quarter was the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, with sales starting on June 5. The company reports that the console was purchased "more than 6 million times" in the first seven weeks. It also noted that 5.82 million units were sold by June 30.
  • Sales of the original Nintendo Switch from April to June 2025 amounted to 0.98 million units, a decline of 53.5%. In total, the console has been sold 153.1 million times.
  • During the quarter, Nintendo sold 8.67 million copies of games for the Nintendo Switch 2 and 24.4 million copies for the original Nintendo Switch (-20.4%).
  • The best-selling game for the Nintendo Switch 2 was Mario Kart World, which was purchased 5.63 million times by June 30. This high number is attributed to the game being sold as part of a bundle with the console. Sales of other games on the Nintendo Switch 2 were not disclosed.
