Jonathan Holmes, co-founder of Milky Tea, is stepping down from his role as CEO after two decades

Jonathan Holmes, the co-founder of Milky Tea, has decided to leave his CEO position with immediate effect to "recharge and focus on spending more quality time with my family."

Holmes, who established the Liverpool-based studio in 2005, will not have a direct successor. Instead, Chris Wood, the current general manager, will take on the role of managing director. Wood previously served as COO at Pixelmatic before joining Milky Tea.

Reflecting on his journey, Holmes stated, "Founding Milky Tea back in 2005 was one of the most meaningful decisions of my life.” He reminisced about creating the company with Ian Leyland and shared the satisfaction of achieving their dream, highlighting the projects, awards, and especially the connections made within the gaming community and beyond. After nearly two decades, Holmes recognized the need to step aside and devote more time to his family.

Holmes expressed immense gratitude towards the executive team at Aonic for their trust in Milky Tea and for supporting his decision. He confidently passed the leadership to Chris Wood, praising his extensive experience and leadership abilities.

In parting words, Holmes gave a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in Milky Tea's journey and expressed excitement for the future projects that Milky Tea and the Aonic group will bring to life in the coming years.

Milky Tea not only creates its own gaming titles but also engages in work-for-hire projects. Currently, the studio is preparing to release "Grit and Valor - 1949" on consoles and the Epic Games Store next month.

Aonic acquired a majority stake in Milky Tea earlier in 2023.
