Jonathan Holmes, co-founder of Milky Tea, is stepping down from his position as CEO after two decades

Jonathan Holmes, the co-founder of Milky Tea, has revealed his immediate resignation from the CEO position to prioritize "recharging and spending more quality time with my family."

Established in 2005 in Liverpool, UK, by Holmes, the studio will not see a direct successor for his role. Instead, Chris Wood, who holds the position of general manager, will advance to managing director. Wood's prior experience includes serving as COO at Pixelmatic.

Reflecting on the founding of Milky Tea, Jonathan Holmes expressed it was one of his life's most significant choices. He, alongside co-founder Ian Leyland, aimed to build their ideal company, a goal he believes they accomplished through their projects and achievements, as well as the relationships and friendships formed within the games industry and beyond. After two decades, Holmes has decided it's time to step back, recharge, and focus more on his family.

Having devoted much to both the company and the gaming sector he holds dear, Holmes thanked the executive team at Aonic for their support during his transition. He expressed confidence in Chris's extensive experience and leadership skills in taking Milky Tea forward.

Holmes extended his gratitude to everyone involved in Milky Tea's journey and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming projects that Milky Tea and the Aonic group will unveil.

Milky Tea is engaged in creating its own games while also providing work-for-hire game development services. Their upcoming releases, Grit and Valor - 1949, are scheduled to launch next month on console and the Epic Games Store.

Aonic secured a majority stake in Milky Tea in 2023.
