British game technology firm JECO has successfully raised $1.3 million in pre-seed funding

JECO, a technology firm based in the UK, has successfully raised $1.3 million, equivalent to £960,000, in initial funding. This investment round was spearheaded by the British Business Bank and The Games Angels, an investment group.
The announcement, made through a press release on July 30, highlighted remarks from Mark Barry, senior investment director at the British Business Bank. He expressed the institution's excitement about the investment, underlining its commitment to enhancing the UK's regional economic landscape and fueling innovative entrepreneurs in significant sectors.
Emily Bailey, known as a co-founder of Antler Studios and a founding member of the UK Video Games Council, along with Simon Barratt, co-founder of Four Door Lemon and now CEO of Cooperative Innovations, initiated JECO. The company provides a pioneering B2B technology toolkit intended to help developers improve efficiency while cutting production costs, timelines, and carbon usage through an automated optimization suite for all software across various devices.
Bailey stated that JECO's mission is to empower developers to improve their processes, allowing for cost-efficient and quicker market entries, fostering a role in addressing long-term environmental concerns. She thanked investors for supporting this vision and aiding developers in utilizing technology for positive behavioral changes.
According to the press release, a considerable amount of data will focus on marketing and strategy, with a substantial portion allocated to the development of an energy dashboard app. This app aims to track expenses, hardware details, and carbon outputs automatically, and it is set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Nick Button-Brown, a former BAFTA Games Committee chair and founder of The Games Angels, commented on the flaws in traditional software development, which prioritizes speed over performance. He commended Emily and Simon's creative direction in assembling a competent team to tackle these issues, noting the considerable achievements thus far and expressing optimism about JECO’s future impact.
