The creator of Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol does not rule out the possibility of stopping game development

Industry veteran Glen Schofield shared in a LinkedIn post that he was unable to secure funding for his next game. Now, he is considering stepping away from development entirely.

According to Schofield, he and a small team have been working on an unannounced game for the past eight months. The concept of the title was devised by his daughter Nicole, and it was expected to become a new milestone in the horror genre. Together, they developed a prototype and started reaching out to investors, but the response from potential partners was not what Schofield had anticipated.

The game designer mentioned that while investors generally liked the game, they were not fond of its budget, which was estimated at $17 million. Initially, they requested to reduce the amount to $10 million, and then further down to $2-5 million.

In the end, it was recently decided to cancel the game and disband the team.

“I’m still around, making art, writing stories and ideas and still cheering the industry on. But maybe I’ve directed my last game. Who knows? If so thank you playing my games.” stated Schofield.
