The Nintendo Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling gaming console in the history of the United States

With a record of 1.6 million units sold during its debut month, the Nintendo Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling console ever in the United States.

Previously, Sony held this record by selling 1.1 million PlayStation 4 systems in November 2013 at launch.

Circana's data indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 topped the sales charts in June for video game hardware both in terms of revenue and number of units sold. Despite this, the PS5 continues to lead 2025 as the top-selling console.

This success has resulted in a significant 22% surge in sales of hardware, content, and accessories compared to the previous year. Mat Piscatella, executive director for video games at Circana, confirmed that June 2025 saw unprecedented sales records for video game hardware and accessories.
