Ubisoft will divide the company into "creative houses"
In a recent quarterly report, Ubisoft announced a significant reorganization. The company has decided to break up into new business units called "creative houses."
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
According to Ubisoft, these "houses" will operate relatively autonomously. Each will have its own leadership team, objectives, and roadmap. It appears that each division will be responsible for a specific set of franchises and will develop games related to them.
The first "creative house" will be a subsidiary being formed with support from Tencent, which will take over rights to three franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. It will be led by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes. Charlie is the son of Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, and Christophe is the founder of Ubisoft Montreal.
The company expects that the reorganization will allow it to create higher quality games and ultimately make the business more efficient. Ubisoft anticipates introducing the new structure in its entirety by the end of the year.
