Nintendo plans to end its Switch Game Voucher service

Nintendo has announced it will end its Switch Game Voucher program.
According to the company, as of 11:59 PM on January 30, 2026, users will no longer be able to purchase the Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. More details can be found here.
These vouchers are a benefit of the Nintendo Switch Online membership, allowing members to purchase two vouchers at a time. They can be redeemed for select titles on the eShop, providing members with savings on main games.
While Nintendo hasn't explained the decision to retire this offering, it expressed gratitude to participants in the Nintendo Switch Online service, emphasizing that the vouchers have a validity of 12 months from the date of purchase.
This implies that any vouchers acquired on January 30, 2026, can be used until January 30, 2027, after which they will expire.
It was previously made known that these vouchers cannot be used for Switch 2 titles. Nonetheless, Nintendo confirmed via a statement that new Switch games will continue to join the Game Voucher catalog throughout 2026, despite the phase-out.
Earlier this week, Nintendo discussed issues pertaining to the cost of the upcoming Switch 2, as well as supply and demand challenges, and concerns regarding Game-Key Cards.
