Original story, July 4, 2025: Toca Boca, headquartered in Stockholm, has undergone staff layoffs, though the exact number of affected employees remains unspecified.

Several former employees have made public their departure on LinkedIn, revealing cuts in areas such as art, quality assurance, design, and development.

GamesIndustry.biz is awaiting a response from the developer for a detailed account of the layoffs.

Ex-game designer Andrew Brierly Chramer pointed to "project changes and cost reductions" as reasons for the layoffs.

"Leaving a dedicated team is challenging, but I'm proud of our accomplishments and thankful for the experiences gained," shared Chramer.

Similarly, former art director Kim Aava expressed: "It's difficult to part with such an inspiring team, but I am extremely proud of our joint achievements."

Among the affected is embedded QA Bathilde de La Chapelle.

According to PocketGamer, Spin Master will also close down Nørdlight, a studio noted for the mobile game Rubik's Match. The decision comes amidst escalating user acquisition costs and the game’s underwhelming financial performance, as reported by the source.
