Krafton has named Steve Papoutsis as the CEO of Unknown Worlds following the departure of the prior leadership team.

Krafton has introduced new leadership at developer Unknown Worlds, with Steve Papoutsis stepping in as the new CEO. He succeeds the former leadership team who have exited the company.
The studio's previous CEO, Ted Gill, alongside co-founders Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, are no longer with the company. The reason for their departure has not been disclosed.
Krafton emphasized its intention to involve the original creators of the Subnautica franchise with the development of its sequel.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Papoutsis stated, "I am excited to join the Krafton family and collaborate with the talented team at Unknown Worlds. Our goal is to create an outstanding game for Subnautica fans."
He also extended gratitude to the co-founders, saying, "We appreciate the contributions of Ted, Charlie, and Max in building this beloved universe, and we thank the fans for their ongoing support."
Prior to his new role, Papoutsis was the CEO of Striking Distance and served as general manager and vice president at Visceral Games for Electronic Arts.
Krafton CEO CH Kim expressed enthusiasm about Papoutsis' appointment: "Given the excitement surrounding Subnautica 2, we're committed to delivering an exceptional experience for our players. We are delighted to have Steve with us on this journey."
Founded by Cleveland and McGuire in 2001, Unknown Worlds became part of Krafton in 2021 as a result of the acquisition.
