The UK Pavilion at the upcoming World Expo 2025 has teamed up with the National Videogame Museum.
Held in Osaka, Japan, from July 18 to July 24, the museum's theme, 'Videogames Transforming Lives', will highlight interactive displays showcasing the UK's leadership in innovative and inclusive game design.
A key highlight is a collaboration with the UK charity SpecialEffect, which will introduce EyeMine 2, a software that enables individuals with physical disabilities to play Minecraft using eye-tracking technology.
Games such as PowerWash Simulator and Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be part of the exhibit, emphasizing the UK gaming sector's talent and creativity.
Additionally, there will be an immersive feature displaying large-scale visuals from Monument Valley by Ustwo, along with opportunities for visitors to engage with the game.
"Video games play a crucial role in both UK culture and the economy, and we are internationally recognized in this field," stated John O'Shea, creative director and co-CEO of the National Videogame Museum.
He continued, "We proudly present three customized exhibits showcasing stories of innovation, inclusivity, collaboration, and the unifying force of play.
"At the National Videogame Museum, we advocate that video games are for everyone and have become an integral part of our social network, fostering connections and building communities. We are excited to communicate this at Expo 2025 in Osaka."
UK Business and Trade Minister Gareth Thomas noted:
"The exhibition by the National Videogame Museum offers a fully immersive experience, highlighting how our exceptional video game industry captivates millions and exemplifies British innovation.
"This represents the kind of forward-thinking, high-growth sector that supports our mission to expand the economy under our Modern Industrial Strategy, from Sheffield to international markets."
