The National Videogame Museum has forged a partnership with the UK Pavilion for the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Between July 18 and July 24, the museum will present the 'Videogames Transforming Lives' showcase, highlighting the UK's leadership in creating inclusive and pioneering game designs through interactive displays.
In collaboration with UK charity SpecialEffect, the showcase will demonstrate EyeMine 2 software, a tool to enable individuals with physical disabilities to engage in Minecraft using eye-tracking technology.
A lineup of games selected by the National Videogame Museum, including PowerWash Simulator and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, will represent the vast talent and creativity within the UK gaming sector.
Attendees can also enjoy an immersive engagement with "large-scale imagery" from Ustwo’s Monument Valley and try playing the game themselves.
John O'Shea, creative director and co-CEO of the National Videogame Museum, remarked on the importance of video games in UK culture and economy, emphasizing the country's international influence.
O'Shea stated, "We’re excited to highlight UK game development on a global scale through custom exhibits that tell inspiring tales of innovation, inclusivity, and the power of play to unite people."
"At the National Videogame Museum, we champion the belief that video games are accessible to all. They're integral to social networks, helping forge connections and communities. We’re excited to communicate this at Expo 2025, Osaka."
Gareth Thomas, UK business and trade minister, commented:
"The exhibition by the National Videogame Museum offers a fully immersive experience that underscores the prowess of our premier video game industry in not just entertaining millions but also showcasing British innovation at its best."
"This industry, spanning from Sheffield to an international scale, exemplifies the kind of high-growth, future-directed sectors central to advancing our economy through the Modern Industrial Strategy."
